When you hear a figure per month in France - it's usually (always I think) 'before' contributions.
I'll get a better look at disability in France over the coming months - I'll probably remember to get back to you with some actual figures.
But, again - don't get too hung up on the figures by themselves. Because the system is very different. AND, areas are very different - different regions, different departments.
Some have free public transport. Some have public transport that is very very cheap. AND - some had door to door services (imagine that).
There's also other things - like petrol and diesel in France is much more expensive than in Oz ----------- BUT, there's no rego fees. It's all in the fuel.
So, that means that for someone who fills the tank in their car (and they are in the majority - mostly small cars) - every 3 months -
then their automobile costs them almost bugger all to run (aside from depreciation).
And if someone has an EV and plugs in at home - then, their only cost per year is insurance. If they don't do many kilometres - they probably only pay a few cents per week for their whole driving thing - bar insurance.
So, whatever you get in per month - doesn't really mean a great deal..
You also have to factor in that the cost of accommodation - either rent or owning in France (aside from in the guts of Paris and a few other places) ---------- is DRAMATICALLY lower than in Australia - or England as well -
I've had a few Pommie couple friends who spent years and years and years in France, living on their boats etc - and lately have gone back to the UK to live. They are all white sheet pale with what they had to pay for buying houses there - compared to France. It's ridiculous.
So again - what you have coming in and you think 'doesn't go far' - well, it does in fact -
like a million bucks in Oz won't go far for buying a home - but, in France - wow. There's some really nice homes around the country for that. Many in the most romantic and cutest of places.
