An interesting article in todays THE AGE is worth having a look at relating to skin health and overall health. For many investors in Clinuvel this is a position they would have hoped that the company would have become synonymous with by now and would have people of the profile of Delta Goodrem promoting their products. We live in hope for the future.
The article mentions how vital skin health is and that cancer patients are amongst those with severe side effects with their skin health. It is well known that immune compromised organ transplant recipients are much more likely to develop skin cancers, it is less well known that Clinuvel ran a study CUV011 with 200 patients in a double blind trial to investigate their implants for treating/preventing this. The study is listed on clinical trials as status 'unknown'.
Going back to the article the company promoted as being interested in skin health is La-Roche Posay, which was acquired by L'Oreal a few years back. Their products create skincare for sensitive skin formulated with thermal water. It would seem Clinuvel could well corner a large market if they could manage to pull it all together one day with the biomimicry of their powerful melanocortin technology - EPP patients can testify to the safety and effectiveness of it. From an investor point of view we wonder what happened with XP, understandably tiny trials were mysteriously pushed back many months when more results were anticipated by now after solid starts. CUV011 is a very mysterious trial which remains unknown after so many years. Once again the article today in a major Australian newspaper is because a high profile person can promote an important cause. For an expert opinion they refer to the director of dermatology at Brisbane's The Princess Alexandra Hospital, interestingly this hospital was one of the Australian locations for CUV011. How we all wish for such experts to be testifying in the mainstream media as to the life changing effectiveness of Clinuvel technology.
Clinuvel once had quite a few articles in the Fairfax media, would be nice to see them there once again rather than French companies. My opinion has long been that mighty L'Oreal is a candidate to take over Clinuvel one day due to the interest they have in skin health as part of overall health and Clinuvel has very unique and EMA, FDA, TGA approved technology as well as being highly profitable. La-Roche Posay kept their identity under L'Oreal and this might be the way the Clinuvel actually does become a household name one day with a powerful company raising them up.
