Unfortunately a large number of heart attack patients ignore symptoms prior to the actual classic Heart Attack.
If your pain was unusual, not caused by something obvious eg muscle strain or lasted longer than 15 minutes I suggest you go to an emergency room and have an ECG and a blood test which will check your heart and major organ markers. There is a distinct possibility that you have suffered some sort of event.
If your pain was accompanied by a general feeling of unwell or upset stomach, sweating or referred pain in the neck, arms or face I would definitely go to a Hospital now.
Wayne in these situations precaution is far better than having a fatal heart attack.
Remember it may also be something completely less sinister, but for the inconvenience of a trip to a Hospital it may well save your life.
