The 'do good deeds' thing not a necessity, but at the same time, if your main focus in life is looking after your own interests, there's no chance of "entering heaven". I use quotations because heaven is not a place - it's a word used by Jesus to describe the non-dual awareness, or realization of our true nature behond thought. So the rich man and the eye of a needle quote is correct. A rich man is extremely unlikely to "enter heaven". Not because of any judgement by a higher power, but because "entering heaven" requires a complete turning away from sense pleasures and self-concern. It's just a mechanical thing. The universe (or God as you'd call it) isn't judging us, but there are certain laws that can't be circumvented. You can look after your selfish needs or you can "enter heaven", but not both. Would be good if you could do both, but that seems to be the law.

Transportation? Creature comforts? How about Job? King David? There are those contradictions in the bible as well.
