I **think** gross shorts are the number of shorts taken out on the day, but NOT those that are covered, hence I don't believe it to be the NET shorts on the day. Am I correct with that interpretation?

Not knowing how many of the shorts were covered on that day or any other, does anyone care to hazard a guess as to what the current total number of short sold shares in the ASX's black hole of shorting are?
