I sought of thought I saw a reference to this book recently in this forum, but cannot exactly see where in this forum?
On pdf (p704) of the book (p680)
"In the circumstances, Herodotus, taken on a conducted tour of Jerusalem by one of Josephus' forebears, would have felt quite at home there; but left to himself, he would have been completely lost, hardly anyone would have understood a word he uttered , nor would he have understood anything of what was said to him."
But Herodotus does not mention Jerusalem, Judah or Israel at all in his Histories, and does not say that he ever visited these places, if indeed they existed at the time wtf? However he does mention Askalon situated in Palestine by the sea.
