Oh the hypocrisy we live in.

Real example:
Stock X is trading at $10
1. I already hold 1000 stock X.
2. I place an order of buy 500 at $9.
3. I then try to place a sell order 500 at $11.

My broker wouldn?t let me do (3), saying it would create a false market and is not allowed by the ASX trading rules.

Not allowed yeah right, their own bots and other institutions do the same thing and get away with it. And guess what, their bot's spreads would be even smaller and orders appear faster than I could ever do manually!
