Re: Nyngan Drilling (Miandetta)
The drilling programme was completed in 3 days and samples for assay delivered to ALS
in Orange, NSW on 5/6/05. That assay laboratory is busy, but the sample preparation
has been completed and the ‘pulps’ will transfer to Brisbane for actual assay. Results
could reasonably be expected within 10 days time.
Re: Young, NSW – Nickel/Cobalt Laterite
Testwork has commenced on about 300 kg of lateritic nickel sample in a two-pronged
attack as outlined previously. Of relevance to shareholders and our proposed simulated
heap leach testwork, the Mining Journal (London) on June 10th 2005 reported favourably
on a trial heap leach carried out by European Nickel PLC at Caldag in Turkey. It is further
reported that BHP Billiton has a 3.5% interest in European Nickel and has the right to
increase this interest to 8.9% under the terms of an agreement.
Jervois has done some testwork on a similar process but found sulphuric acid leach to be
somewhat erratic and too selective. We believe the chloride leach approach being
conducted in Sydney will be faster and more effective than the sulphuric acid approach.
Preliminary results were reported last December 2004, for the chloride leach process.
