quite the resume and they wonder why they are so hated in tasmania.

    Dear Tarkine supporters,
Venture Minerals have launched a legal attack on Save the Tarkine and we urgently need your help.
Yesterday we appeared in court on short notice to seek an adjournment to defend an application by Venture Minerals to wind up Save the Tarkine. Venture are incorrectly alleging that Save the Tarkine is insolvent.
Venture is wrong. Not only are we solvent, but we are awaiting costs awarded to us from our successful Nelson Bay River case against the Director of the EPA last year, and we have already paid a substantial ‘security for costs’ deposit with the Federal Court against the costs awarded against us in our unsuccessful Riley Creek case.
While we have assured Venture that it is our intent to make good on the costs order imposed by the court, it appears Venture is more interested in destroying Save the Tarkine than in recovering it’s costs.
We now need to raise funds to defend against this new legal attack. If we do not defend this attack, Save the Tarkine will be wound up regardless of it’s ability to pay costs.
Save the Tarkine has played a vital role in defending the Tarkine. In the past decade we have:
    - Secured over 70,000 hectares of permanent rainforest reserves (2005), and 65,000 hectares of temporary reserves (2012),
    - Obtained 447,000 hectares of emergency National Heritage Listing (2009),
    - Defeated the 2009 Forestry Tasmania ‘Tarkine Drive’ logging road proposal, and worked with the Tasmanian Government to develop an appropriate tourism route for ‘Tarkine Drive’,
    - Worked with tourism operators and local councils to promote and establish a tourism industry in the Tarkine,
    - Conducted investor campaigns that saw Venture Minerals and Shree Minerals share price fall as investors learnt of their risky plans for open cut mines in the Tarkine,
    - Won a Federal Court case overturning the Federal Government’s Shree Minerals Nelson Bay River mine approvals – and in doing so establishing the precedent that led to the overturning of the first Adani Carmichael Coal Mine approval,
    - Won a Supreme Court case overturning the EPA Directors’s watering down of environmental permits for Shree Minerals Nelson Bay River mine approvals – establishing the limitations of the power of the Director to make unilateral approval decisions,
    - Won a separate Supreme Court case establishing the legal rights of environment groups to seek ‘Statements of Reasons’ for approval decisions by the EPA.
    - Introduced thousands of people across the globe to the ancient majesty that is the Tarkine.
And right now Save the Tarkine is finalising the revised Tarkine National Park proposal, and awaiting a decision in last week’s Supreme Court challenge to the Minister for Resources, Paul Harriss’ refusal to produce a Statement of Reasons for the granting of mine leases to Venture Minerals.
But most importantly, Save the Tarkine remains the campaign that still stands defiantly against Venture Minerals plans for three open cut mines in the Tarkine wilderness. And for that they want us gone.
    But you can help.
A tax deductable donation can ensure we are able to defend against Venture’s legal attack, and keep us fighting for the Tarkine.
Please consider an urgent donation to Save the Tarkine.
