Today's discovery is more than exciting. It has real significance for a number of reasons.

Firstly it is spectacularly high grade. 420g/t is better than 10oz/t and it's in a vein over 30cm wide. Not only that, but there is second high grade vein running close by. The grades run over 1oz/t when the full 3m spacing between the veins is mined as one unit. However the company appears to be getting an increase in grade by mining the M1 vein first, then cutting out the waste "mullock" between the veins, before mining the M2 vein. This way the valuable ore is less diluted by waste rock and the grade improves, perhaps to around 60g/t for this pod of spectacularly rich ore.

Secondly the ore veins are on the 640 "Amalgamated" level. This level connects straight to the treatment plant via a horizontal drive. The company can load up the diesel ore transporter using a diesel powered loader and truck it straight to the plant. No double handling, no need to construct tricky ore passes.

Finally the ore veins are open. Who knows how far they extend to the north. I have always had a good feeling about this particular orebody. It's a real bonanza.
