helium glut soon?

Just been reading about the current world demand for Helium, and it currently stands at roughly 7.5 bcf per year. With all this hype about Helium shortage I've just realised how small the Helium market is. 7.5 bcf per year isn't a lot in gas volumes or dollar terms. It is only a 1 billion dollar world market. A single substantial discovery could easily turn it into a glut. If the Heavitree reservoir can be proven to be commercial later, at 6% helium we could easily over supply the world with helium! And another threat is on the horizon, Russia's Gasprom is planning to develop their Helium from their Eastern Siberian gas fields by 2018. They could eventually produce as much as what the current world demand is.

But, it is better to have more than what everybody needs than to have nothing at all. Let's hope this is the case.
