Hang on a sec Bob. Mt Kare is 15 km away from Porgera, and as Hal has stated, much closer than that from the existing road. A road that brings in tens, if not hundreds, of tonnes of supplies each week. So near and yet so far eh? Too hard eh?
Think for a moment about how that road got there and why it terminates at the Porgera mine. It's not a huge leap in thinking to envisage that a spur road of 5km, or at worst a little bit longer, can be built to unlock Mt.Kare.
