FYI, I was an undeground miner for 10 years my self @ Windarra, Warrago, Geko, Kambalda and NKM.
I have flown the Tari/Mendi/Porgera line several times in a Bell, likewise, most of the rest of PNG from Lihir to Ok Tedi and from the mouth of the Fly to the Sepik et cetera.

But these things can be dealt with.
As it happens the ground around Porgera through to Kare avails itself of a relatively easy construction environment given vegetation is more heathland with low pandanas and grass lands on the valley floors.
Fortunately its nothing like the horizantal forests you find to the South and East.
