I know Slim Dusty used to have a way of getting rid of polar bears:
Might be worth a try.
1) Chop a circular hole in the ice.
2) Sprinkle some peas around it, then hide.
3) Wait till the polar bear comes down for a pea.
4) Then sneak up and kick him in the ice hole.
