Two years seems unduly pessimistic. The FDA is supposed to process the ANDA within six months. And if you look at the presentation from the Wilson HTM conference in October 2008, the distribution channels for fondaparinux will be through wholesalers, mail order pharmacies, and warehousing companies, selling to group purchasing companies. It won't need to be marketed to clinicians or patients.

"Many examples of performance of 1st generics ... Generally take 40-50% mkt share within days/weeks of launch".

So it's not impossible that there will be significant revenues from fondaparinux starting this year, though early-to-mid 2010 seems more likely, assuming some FDA delays and some time to mass distribution.
