"Only put in money you can afford to lose on oppies imho" applies more to options than most other investments
But they are worth understanding as they can often present great opportunities both for increased returns or as a way into a desirable investment that may be otherwise unaffordable
But please CAVEAT EMPTOR (and think three times before going for it), but if it ticks the boxes and looks good - then go for it (with only what you can afford to lose)!
