Probably too late for your interview, but call centre workers are in big demand, mainly because there is a high turnover. Backpackers often take temporary work doing call centre responses and telesales.

Clear spoken English preferably without a strong accent, and a helpful attitude, plus the ability to operate a menu-based and database application will be what they are looking for.

The work can be frustrating and telesales requires a strong faith in oneself because there are a lot of rude knockbacks. But if you can hack it and if you have the ability to sell, it's safe and in high demand. Best to seek promotion (which should be available) to supervisor or manager ASAP though - if you are good with managing stressed people.
