Fair enough to teach ethics, but why exclude the school of ancient times. "There is no new thing under the sun" can be taken to refer to morality and ethics. Back then old men sat in the dirt in there villages and observed what people did and how they faired. The people who prospered were considered to please God. Those that werent so blessed were sinners. Over many generations these ideas were refined.

Iam not sure about Mohammhed but the teachings of Jesus and Buddha are widely believed to be egalitarian.
