Raks,
Seriously, money is the best thing right now...money so people can meat immediate needs.
Clothes are good, as are many of the smaller things we might take with us, if for example we were to move in with friends for a while.
Furniture, TV's, etc are not much good when you don't hace a house to put them in!
Cars, trailers, bikes, etc. will be needed...again, money is the best way to address this.
One of the problems when so many things turn up is help on the ground...the "Opp Shop" in Whittlesea has been flooded with clothes, toletries, etc...there problem now is how to effectively sort then distribute it all?
So, locally they need hands on the ground, but on a larger basis they immediately need financial support, both individually and collectively as a community and indeed moral support.
People offering houses, or even just a spare bedroom is good...so too would be caravans, etc...as many of the more determined types will want to be "at home" as soon as possible.
What has happened is simply revolting...no other word better describes it all.
Have family/friends, who between them have dozens of other friends/family still unacounted for in the Kinglake area.
Many would have simply not registered yet...but as the day goes on and still now word, the fears grow.
Some real stories of heroism filtering out...I reckon they are all heroes.
Cheers!
