heh - the same thing goes for washing machines. in the good old days,when the washing machine stopped working, watso's father would pull out the motor. if the problem was not the motor, then it was just a mechanical thingy. a washing machine used to be pretty simple.

watso's first washing machine, was a green thingy, with a good sized tub - complete with rollers - which squeezed out the water from the garments. the water drained out from a plug hole in the bottom, and a rinse, was from manually refilling the tub (ok - from a hose attached to a tap - but the tap would have to be turned on and off) - wow - that was an advancement from the old copper, and a laundry board (or whatever they called it).

watso understands why his clothing would be worn for a week, before his mother put it in for the weekly wash. these days, people put clothing in the wash after it has been worn for a few minutes.
