I had a 1971 HG as my first car, $600. Was a lot back then.
Got a yellow canary on it one day and had to replace the rear oil seal so had to drop the motor.
So much easier to work on than the cars of today.
However I recently changed my starter motor on my '01 prado. Had to bend a few brake lines to get it in. Wouldn't fit through the gap otherwise.
unfortunately my Prado needs:
Timing chain (which usually means a water pump replacement also), rack ends, valve guide seals... So a few thousand will need to be spent.... It's a rough old bugger but worth more to keep than to get rid of... Chews the juice but...
