All I can say is that someone has to buy at the top of the market and ride it all the way down; is your friend this person? In simple terms, if you make 4 trades a year and make 20% on each and compound, you will double your money. Try and do that every year and you will be rich. The market works in pulses, so pick 4 pulses in 12 months and you may be lucky and double your money.....not many do! Make about 10% on each and you are 50% ahead. Walk before you run.
