H69....good questions; the first sign of a good investor...Question everything....
a) do we believe the hype- is this the worst financial situation the world has seen in 100 years (quote greenspan)?
What you are seeing is unprecidented...if you want to be sussessful, NEVER forget what you are witnessing now. Lern from it, read everything you can get your hands on.
b) what should all us gen y/gen x's do to "weather the storm"?
Sit tigh for the moment. There will be very good buying opprotunities that may be once in-a-life-time.
c) how do we position ourselves to actually grow and prosper during this time of economic hardship (what are the opportunities)?
You have to read as widely as you can. There are a whole raft of books written in the last 40 years that are seminal works on markets and the economy. You must do the work, you must make your own decisions as to when to buy and sell.
Remember for every buyer, there is a seller on the other side of the trade....what are each of their motives for the trade? You've got to ask the questions to decide what to do....
