Why would Trump tell US companies like Walmart and Amazon to absorb (eat) the tariffs if it was the Chinese who had to pay them? There would be nothing for the US companies to absorb if the Chinese were actually paying them like Trump said they would. But suddenly he has discovered that the Chinese aren't paying them and US consumers are. Like wow. How did that happen. MAGA heads explode everywhere. Better not let US consumers, AKA voters, know the truth. Better make out like its greedy companies taking more profit.
Sounds like Trump may not have understood his favorite word "Tariffs" as well as he thought he did. Its funny when a kid learns a new word then just throws it into every half baked sentence.
PS Walmart margin are nothing near 10% according to their own declarations. They work on super high volume but low margins. Trump just needs to be able to point the finger for the price rises at somebody else before people start looking at him.
