Frustrating indeed. The article I started this thread with is an example in point. Any other Co would have given the charity the toys for free and then milked it for every bit of publicity they could. That stuff is gold in PR land, and they let it slip by without comment. As I said earlier the news section on the marshmallowville.com web site hasn't been updated since 2006.
