Andrew Kavasilis knows that Em SuperFoods is producing Australian owned and Australian grown hempseed ie grown locally, processed locally and packaged locally - to the highest helath standards - and now legal in Australia - he should not be taking all the credit for himself and posing as the instigator of Australian grown hempseed.

There have been a devoted number of Aussies who have been behind the push to legalise hempseed - going back to 1990 and earlier. Patsy and Fritz Harmsen, in Tasmania, Andrew Katelaris here in Sydney to name but a couple of the pioneers.

    - EM superfoods is a Queensland based company, owned and managed by two brothers who have been raised since birth holistically, and understand the principles 'you are what you think and EAT'.

The boys have been working in the health food industry for a number of years, a journey of knowledge and experience. It was a step by step process that enabled them to produce their own products they genuinely believe in and use daily.

While I appreciate Andrew K's diligence in the field - he is not the proprietor of Australian grown hempseed - the FoFR decision today means the industry in now able to develop with many dedicated Australian players involved. It is the overseas conglomerates who will now push the floodgates open - it is there products we now need to avoid.

"Andrew Kavasilas, Vitahemp’s founder and MCL’s Technical Director said: “This is perfect for us, a development we have been waiting for since 2009. No Australian company has been legally approved to sell hemp seed food products to Australian consumers until now.” While the public has become used to seeing various hemp seed food products available in health food shops and other supermarket shelves, the fact is, they are imported and labelled ‘Not for human consumption’ in Australia. Concerns have been raised for many years about the situation, especially as there have been no requirements by importing companies, in relation to health standards, handling, packaging or truth in labelling"
