The trouble is there are many quality resources in other countries apart from Australia.

I think you will basically find that invesment moves to better places with a more favourable sovereign risk.

Plenty of gold in North America, Canada, South east Asia. Plenty of iron ore in China and India (Albeit lower grade). Plenty of uranium in Africa (Thanks EXT), some in America. Plenty of copper in South America, South east Asia.

There are many more opportunities aside from Australia. China will be quietly considering its next move... Remember China has recently moved a lot of money into Australian resource stocks on industry average PE ratios. Now this investments look very expensive.
