No doubt that the new regimes will be approved here.
However, the "real" new regime isn't even approved in the US yet. It will be the single combination pill of Solvaldi and Ledipasvir. Personally, I expect approval for this new regime (8 week course) in the US by around September/October perhaps and Australian approval within a year of that.
Only the very lucky few variants will be able to use the Interferon free approach they talk about in that report. These news items generally only confuse the situation with their reports. They lack any real detail.
That said...... In about 18 months the Aussies should be doing an 8 week course of a single pill once a day and getting very close to 100% cure. Those with harder to treat variations and those who relapsed after treatment or are cirrhotic will likely be cured as well.... but will have to do the course for twelve weeks. The very hardest to cure may still have Ribavirin added to the regime.
