It's looking quite obvious that RIO aren't succeeding much in their negotiations with KAH who have already stated before that they are not interested in cheap takeover offers or JV (or should I say 'Partnership'?). They just want to realise the true value of their asset, and that suits us other little shareholders just fine.
As mentioned earlier by our wise brilliant contributor BeerBaron, RIO are desperate for this asset and they know they don't have many cards they can play with this one, even if Itochu is on their side.
Now that the placement to KAH has been settled once and for all, what are we to expect?
The cards are out there on the table now. We always knew RIO would probably make a move, but now we know that for certain. We also know that KAH is not ready to accept any cheap offers either.
Is there much point in talking JVs for Kalahari when we all know they are really just interested in obtaining full value for their flagship investement. If a JV does eventuate, i'll be very interested to know in what shape or form it will be especially in regards to KAH's position??
IMO a full blown takeover is still the preferred outcome for RIO anyway, and I'd imagine this will where we're heading to now. It'll be interesting to know what other people think??
