I thought it would be a novelty if someone on hotcopper actually gave some recognition for posts that actually turn out to be correct!
too many times thumbs up are given because it makes us feel good or confirms our sentiments about a stock we hold!! Instant gratification is all we care about and not digesting something we dont like ,even though it may be good for us!
I actually am using that usefully now - if negative posts about a stock get a lot of thumbs up which stick, i consider buying the stock as it can mean a bottom is closer! conversely, when blatant up ramping posts (esp those that remind you of the deer with no legs, eyes or genitals joke!) get numerous thumbs up, it is time to consider lightening a few!
it is classic example of what Louise Bedford( your trading edge magazine) refers to in many of her articles about the psychology of trading- unfortunately, it confirms what she says and that is that a vast majority of you have too big an ego to make it in trading!
speaking of ego's, my post on the 22nd of Feb wasn't too bad either!
