- Treatment at off-site facility/containment. Any Category A spoil would require treatment prior to disposal or re-use. Acid sulfate soils and rock would be managed in accordance with EPA guidelines, with off-site management being undertaken in accordance with the Industrial Waste Management Policy (Waste Acid Sulfate Soils). Prevention of acid sulfate soil oxidation is the
preferred management option, which could involve strategic infilling of excavations below the water table or the addition of lime to neutralise potential acid generation. Any off-site facility accepting acid sulfate soils and rock would need to have an EPA-approved Environmental Management Plan in place
