No.. that statement is meant to stop you from getting too attached to your shares. Sell them when the price is right.

I do a lot of trading with my brother, we tend to hold different stocks intentionally, in order to avoid psychological bias.

I was getting a bit too attached to a stock i held last week, it was still heavily in the green and was slowly dropping down, my brother told me to sell it off. Even though i didnt want to and i was convinced it would rise further, i sold it off. He was right, it continued dropping, and im thankful that i had him to act as a stop loss.

He was unbiased as he had no interest in the share. Thats how trading should be.
