Wow... Bloody fantastic, 25% return pa. It seems as though you have got the Super thing well under control.( maybe just a tad over exposed to HDR,WPL , but hey, arn't we all in some stocks than others? ) My stupid Employer Fund gave me a return of -1.6% last year, but since June it has posted a return of 10%. Anyhow, I've since left employment (resigned) and have rolled over my Super, so I'll just have to wait and see how that goes.
At least you don't get slugged the Medicare Surcharge tax either.
Yes it appears that it is the sensible way to go and put into your DIY Super fund. And you only have to wait another 15 years before you can touch it... lol :)
In regards to the Maximum deduction that you can claim, I'm not too sure on this. Maybe this doesn't apply to you. If you are an individual putting into non employer sponsored super, it's something like the first $5000 and then 75% of the total amount over $5000 or the age-based deduction limit , which ever is the lesser. the age brackets are 35-49 = $36754 , 50 and over = $91149. So I hope you are going to be 50 before end of financial year or when you make your last contribution into Fund?
Anyhow good luck with your Fund, I hope it does Build up to that magic $Million for you. Best of luck with your trading too. Hope HDR keeps on climbing.
Apologies to those if the above is not directly related to HDR, but , indirectly it could be.
One last thing, there's one sure fire way of avoiding tax altogether...... don't earn anything. lol.
Cheers CL
