ravi the BPT sp went XD [ex dividend] as its BASIS OF QUOTATION, on my Comsec quotes webpage, on Fri 5th Sept which meant that to get the divvy [cum div.] you had to buy the stock on the ASX on Thur.4th or prior because the 5th was the Ex Div date and that is the date it trades Ex Div.
It is up to your broker to make sure any stock you buy prior to the Ex Date is recorded in your name by the stock's share registrar, prior to the record date; so in effect the record date is not important to investors only the Ex Date.
