Mike I take the view there is no downside to gold ATM.
The appetite for gold consumption is very high in India and China, and as well the Chinese have encouraged people to buy it as an alternative to property speculation. Further, if the euro and US markets falter, or banks falter it is a hedge. If inflation runs, it's a hedge. If hyperinflation, ditto. Of course, George Soros says that gold is the ultimate bubble, but we are a long way from realising that one as yet.
A rich resource like this one just makes compounded sense to me. Of course, nothing is certain, but relatively speaking...
