AUSTRALIAN STOCK EXCHANGE RELEASE
STRONG PROSPECTS FOR INCREASED FRESHTEL SUBSCRIBER GROWTH -
TESCO RELEASES EXCLUSIVE INTERNET PHONE CALL PLANS AND NEW PRODUCT
RANGE
Melbourne, Australia, Thursday, 13th September 2007: Freshtel’s white label partner in the UK, Tesco
Telecoms, has announced today it is launching new landline-style plans for its internet phone service
that will revolutionise the market and make internet phone calls the norm in Britain.
The plans have been designed to allow UK customers to use and pay for an internet phone in the
same way they would a traditional landline service and are expected to massively drive uptake of
internet telephony (VoIP) technology in the UK. The launch will be supported by a new marketing
campaign in the UK.
The new plans will bring internet telephony to a broader customer base in the UK and represent a
source of revenue growth for Freshtel, who provide the network infrastructure, hardware and
software behind the Tesco Internet Phone.
Rhonda O’Donnell, CEO of Freshtel Holdings said Freshtel’s new network infrastructure V2 had
made changes to the pricing plans and billing system possible, demonstrating the advantage of the
white label business model.
“This is an excellent example of how we’ve collaborated with our white label partner, Tesco. The new
network infrastructure has enabled enhancements such as a multi-layered billing system which has
enabled new style pricing plans for the internet phone. The V2 network has also given us the
capacity to seamlessly support the expected growth in subscriber numbers.
“Tesco’s commitment to driving the UK internet phone market is of course very important to our
business, representing a key source of additional revenue over the coming year.”
The new Tesco internet phone monthly price plans represent some of the best value in the UK
market. The plans include unlimited anytime UK calls for just £5 (approx AUD$12.40) a month and
unlimited anytime international calls for just £8.50 (approx AUD$21.00) a month. The market-leading
call plans will challenge traditional providers – the same £8.50 will buy a 13 minute call to Thailand
with competitor, BT Together.1
From September, Tesco stores will stock an increased range of seven internet phones reflecting the
demand for the new communications technology.
1 Call rates compared with BT Together based on a daytime rate of £0.68 per minute.

Andy Dewhurst, chief executive officer of Tesco Telecom and Freshtel board member said: “Since
launching Tesco internet phone, we have already helped to drastically cut the cost of making UK and
international calls and made internet calls the norm for many Brits.
“These new prices are a simple way for anyone with internet access to make really great value or
free calls at any time.
“Consumers no longer need to worry about expensive call costs abroad or when they are calling
home from international destinations. We really believe this will take the stress and guilt out of roundthe-
world calls.”
