It is interesting to note that no media outlet talks about the current budget of the ABC in $ figures.
No one makes reference to how the budget has increased over time and Governments.

"As opposed to many of its international counterparts such as the BBC,[57] the ABC is funded mainly by the Australian government, in addition to some revenue received from its retail outlets. In the 2006–07 federal budget, the ABC received A$823 million of government funding,[58] increased to $840 million in 2008–09.[1] In the 2009–10 federal budget, the ABC received funding of $929.9 million.[59]"

Current budget as far as I can make out is over approx $1.02 trillion dollars increasing to $1.049 trillion in 2016-2017.

If a journalist was game enough to do a story on the history of increases to the ABC budget and % increases per year, he or she may not be a hero but we would have the figures.
All the journalist are referring to the cuts and not what total budget is as a reference.
    e.g.

So does Mark Scott think the ABC is immune to cuts, while the Government is attempting to reduce costs.??
