If the soldiers wanted to be safe, why would they park in a street, fence it off with razor wire and dole out sweets to the kids"? Doesnt make sense.....when they could have just as easily gone into the base which the story says was adjacent and be protected by concrete blast walls, razor wire and guards.

Seems to me ,the soldiers wanted to make friends with the kids , and in turn , with their parents by showing a little kindness and fraternisation...and this scumsucker bomber was cruising near the base waiting for a target and didnt like seeing the infidels and locals getting friendly....decided he coudnt wait any longer for the next flight to paradise. ..and jumped the cue.
