Dave has been living out of a suitcase for the past 4 years travelling the world spreading the good word. i think he started calling an airoplane home.
sooner or later it catches up with you, perhaps Dave felt the time was right for a change of guard. bring in some new top gun whom has age on his side and doesn't mind travelling. (young blood seems to be working for OEL "Parks", so why not for Nido)
at the same time and opportunity knocks, appoint other board members that have plenty of experience in the energy sector.
no way on earth would Whitby hand over the reins to another person unless they received all the right ticks.
seems to me you didn't really read the email from Whitby.
the new CEO & board members have very big shoes to fill, IMO they'll pass with flying colours.
