Some of the above talk of the MD David Whitby retiring, moving on - whatever, is amazing. Though perhaps explains why some individuals should never dabble in the stock market.
This fellow, Whitby, has brought the company from a $4m market cap in 2004 to $268m in 2008, and has no intention of doing what is being retailed by a handful of mere conversationalists expressing their ideas on how corporations should be run.
An ASX announcement on the 7th of Feb makes it clear he has well and truly taken over the reins of the company, he is now chairman, free of the executive roles, able to deliberate on strategic moves for future growth.
The juvenile suggestion that he is moving on is akin to saying Don Argus at BHP plays no role in their growth, and is really a non entity. Thus the company sees no benefit from his presence, when in truth, under his watch a succession of his appointees, Anderson, Goodyear, and now Kloppers, have built the worlds largest mining company. He put them on the payroll -- now it is Whitby's turn at Nido
