heritage not an issue

Someone posted earlier that Mt. Mulligan is an listed heritage area which maybe an issue in reaching the Access Agreement.
In doing research, I found an article that in my understanding should clear this potential issue.

    Title: Mareeba Mining Hub
    by Gavin King
    28/11/2007 on www.cains.com.au

"Mareeba Mayor Mick Borzi yesterday welcomed the announcement and said it showed that interest in developing the region's mineral wealth was continuing to grow.

This latest decision follows plans to reopen the Mt Mulligan coal mine and to develop new mines near Chillagoe and Dimbulah.

"The council has been aware of this potential for some time and it is now very pleasing to see it being realised."

Cr Borzi said the council had been actively seeking to attract new businesses to the region to boost the local economy.

He said the Hodgkinson basin was a highly productive area and no doubt other mining companies would set up a base at Mareeba."

It is clear that Mt. Mulligan coal mine is allowed to reopen and is welcome by local community.

Hope this is of help to those interested.

    Cheers.
