and when the taliban were in control of afghanistan (parts of), they banned the growing of poppies. the taliban now use the proceeds of heroin, to fund their war - as they need to get the funds from somehwere. the cia are not supporting them, tthe same way that the cia did, when the taliban were the "freedom fighters" (according to ronald reagan). sure is a complex issue. but then again, the cia, were involved in drug running, and at the time watso always believed that the us government were always the good guys.
the tragedy is , is that there is always money to spend on bombs, bullets, guns , corruption etc, but so little money to fight the problems that really affect people
