Evans Shoal is a big resource, containing about 7 trillion cubic feet of recoverable gas. However, it has a high carbon dioxide content of 28%.
Evans Shoal was discovered in 1988, and sits in Block NT/P48 in the Bonaparte basin in water depths of between three feet and 300 feet. Three wells have been drilled on it.
“It was discovered many years ago, but the CO2 was a major issue,” said Baldassarre.
“We have taken on that challenge… and we have strong partners.”
