AIM Resources says Perkoa Zinc project on track, expects mine to open next month

LONDON (Thomson Financial) - AIM Resources Ltd said work on the mine portal at the Perkoa Zinc project, Burkina Faso, has passed the half way stage, and it is expected that the portal will be opened within the next month.

The boxcut on the Perkoa site progressed well during the quarter to end-March 2007 both on schedule and on budget.

The Perkoa mill has been sourced from Outokumpu and delivery is expected late in 2007, well ahead of schedule, thus reducing lead times and avoiding any steel price increases.

On its drilling at Mumbwa Copper Gold project, Zambia, the company said it is reviewing the results with its partner BHP Billiton (nyse: BBL - news - people ) and expects the final results in May, with an update on the preliminary findings imminent.

AIM Resources said it is finalizing its discussions with the Bollore Group on its logistics requirements and added it anticipates to enter into sales agreements within the next quarter.

It added it will fill the chairman's position early in the next quarter and plans to appoint another board member who has had underground production experience.

In a separate statement, AIM Resorces announced the appointment of Denise Lindfield as company secretary.
