Hey Tony .. want to buy some subs ??, page-10

This is complex in setting up a facility for nuke subs. It will need one facility with concrete bunker for working on subs, a bunker for storage of rods etc, and we are talking about concrete 30 foot thick and reo 30-35 mm in diameter, spaced about 100 mm apart to ensure safety, and the two bunkers will be joined but apart from each other just incase accidents of leakages and worse.
This is just one port of call for servicing/maintenance, so what happens if the main base is Adelaide and there is a fault when it is in Darwin? By rights there should be concrete pens around Australia to enable limited work to be done safely, so that extensive work can be done at main base which should be done periodically regardless.
I agree we should go with what has been proposed on the opening post, but it does require extensive infrastructure and I'm not sure this country is ready to take this next step from conventional subs, to nuclear, thoughts anyone?
