"Problem is some of the hot-blooded local warlords may take matters into their own hands and create a nightmare for Israeli citizens as random terrorist attacks become more prominent"

Likely the lesser of two evils. Israel will have wanted to degrade Hezbollah's ability to launch co-ordinated, large scale attacks in concert with Iran. Removing the entire leadership of Hezbollah, as well as dismantling communications & weapons caches / launchers, does this.

The other thing to remember is that Hezbollah is not universally supported within Lebanon. An ultra organised, well led Hezbollah is a threat to basically taking over the country, and it's armed forces, as a whole.

Hezbollah was reaching the point of being able to inflict large scale, major damage upon Israel. Israel needs to take it's opportunities to degrade those capabilities when it can. That threat has likely reduced now, even if the threat of more unpredictable, smaller scale attack might have increased.

    Cheers!
