A tax on HFTs, based on the number of trades per day over a nominal level, would soon shut these guys down, contribute to government coffers and restore the faith of small investors in an important institution in Australia.
High Frequency Trading is rapidly destroying the integrity of the market through price manipulation.
By manipulating downwards the close of business SP, ordinary investors toss and turn, lose sleep and end up selling out cheaply thinking their investment is going to the dogs.
HF Traders are thereby motivated to continue.
