Been checking HGC out.
It is one of the four Hong Kong telcos with Honkers as a base for connections to 10 countries via land and under sea cable so it is a fairly large outfit, but its interesting that its US parent, I Squared Capital, also controls a similar carrier called Exa Infrastructure.
Before Exa filed for bankruptcy in 2020 (then called GTT) it had bought up comms infrastructure like data centres, mobile towers and extensive optic fibre in the US, Mexico and Europe. This included KPN, the Dutch equivalent of Telstra. When acquired the press release said Exa serves 300 cities in Europe and the Americas. That coverage may offer a fair number of corporate clients with a need for "zero trust" security on a subscription basis.
We're yet to see how the VSN and Starlink will be deployed by HGC, but the Exa team may be watching. Exa has been busy extending cable to underserved areas of Europe but it may be cheaper to use Starlink while also sharing the ample margins of secure, self-configured software.
