    There is nothing special about them.

    Its a simple bot, inexpensive to employ, designed to offload or add a given amount of stock over a duration.

    Much much more complex and manipulative bots operating in the HFT markets - usually you wont know they are operating.

    Just remember, last time I saw an estimate it was 70% of trades now using HFT. ANd that was ages ago.
