The "naive and confused" bit about Hicks is from his US appointed military lawyer but my issue is not about Hicks at all. In fact one of my own children commands a platoon of Australian soldiers and is currently posted overseas. I'm all in favour of appropriate rules of engagement and I have every confidence that our military works to ensure these rules work to maximise the safety of our troops.
On a personal level, I don't have an opinion on Hicks one way or another although I am impressed at the way his Dad has stuck up for him.
